TEMS is a British school with over 40 years of history, offering the advantages of a British education and the sensitivity of a Montessori pedagogy. We are the only school in the Community of Madrid that offers the possibility to choose between A-Levels, giving continuity to British Education and the Spanish Baccalaureate.
At TEMS we have adapted our curriculum and our approach to the specific needs of each of the educational stages. In Infants, we combine the British curriculum with Montessori pedagogy. Thanks to this system, our pupils are able to learn in a bespoke environment in English for 80% of their day.
We work really hard to help students grow socially competent by ensuring they develop a high level of autonomy through independent learning , become emotionally intelligent and increasingly self-reliant as their confidence grows, whilst showing a great curiosity for learning.
Since September 2020 we have included A-Levels in our academic offer, based on the feedback of parents, students and alumni. This combination enables pupils to explore either option whilst maintaining their level of English and continuing to learn in an environment which encourages questioning whilst building their independent study skills in preparation for universities at home and abroad.
At TEMS, we are the only school that offers the possibility to choose between the A-Levels, giving continuity to both a British Education and the Spanish Baccalaureate. Pupils are proving very adept at determining which best suits their own preferences and is best fitted to their individual future plans; supported of course by their teachers and their families.
TEMS’ excellent educational offer is also reflected in the excellent academic results that its pupils obtain in all external tests from IGCSE to EVAU as well as C2 Proficiency and DELF. This means that securing a place in the best universities in the United Kingdom, Europe, Spain and the United States, among other countries is well within their grasp.
Starting in Year 3 when pupils enter Primary , technology is part of our environment. Therefore, the school has initiated a Digital Transformation Programme aimed at using technology as a learning tool so that pupils can navigate safely in the digital environment making responsible use of it, as both user and contributor. As a Montessori approach is central to our ethos , pupils are both able and encouraged to chose the best of traditional and digital tools to personalise their own learning.
Wellbeing is embedded in everything we do. We offer individual support and guidance to our students and promote their physical and mental wellbeing whether through activities and events such as the Global Be Well Day, a journey dedicated exclusively to the promotion of well-being or in our every day interactions with them around school . We have invested in training our staff to understand that wellbeing underpins academic success and our caring core value shows itself tangibly through our approaches to this arena which are personalised to the needs of our pupils.
