Why Ciencias Sociales is our favourite subject in Year 8
By Nicolás, Jacobo and Ricardo, Year 8
Ciencias Sociales is a history class taught in Spanish. The topics change depending on the year. In Y8 we already learned about Prehistory, and now we’re studying Mesopotamia. This year, our Sociales teacher is Dani.
In our opinion, Sociales is the best subject because:
-
Our teacher, Dani, is super good and really funny. He tells loads of jokes and even explains how to survive if you ever get lost in the forest or in nature.
-
His classes are always entertaining. He makes jokes and gives funny examples that help us understand everything much better. Thanks to him, taking notes is way easier. He even talked to us about NASA and the “arrival on the moon,” shared his opinions about aliens, and told us about parallel universes.
-
He also gives us very interesting projects—like writing Mesopotamian symbols in clay—and teaches in a way that actually makes us want to learn.
The best thing we have learned this year is:
- How to purify water in the wild
- You can fill a sock with sand and rocks and then fill the sock with water. You then pass the water to a recipient and do it a lot of times. This will purify the water because the sock will act as filter and get rid of any sediment.
- You can fill a pot with natural water and then boil the pot with the water in it. You then leave the pot to cool down and after some hours, you drink the water.
In conclusion:
Dani is honestly one of the best (if not the best) teachers of the year. With his classes, his jokes, and his explanations, we think he deserves a trophy.
Fact:
He even wrote a book of his poems. It’s called Las ruinas de la arboleda.
