Seniors department – 1st Term News (2018-19)

seniors

This term we have had a number of competitions in football, basketball, cross country and tag rugby.  Our students have performed well against tough competitors and all our games have been played with terrific TEMS spirit.  Our Year 10-13 girls’ basketball team were narrowly defeated and missed out on a bronze medal, but our Year 10-11 boys football team put on a great overall performance to come home with bronze medals.  A special mention goes out to Pau for his win in the cross country run, and all of the Juvenil boys and girls football players.  The girls won silver and the boys won bronze.  Excellent work and so much fun to watch.  Finally, I would like to say a huge thanks to all the students who have participated in school sport this term.  It is a pleasure to see you compete and we look forward to more next year.

We have had several careers talks. Alba and Elena from Airbus talked to Year 7 about engineering. One of our ex-pupils, Jaime, spoke to Year 10 about studying medicine at Edinburgh University and Year 13 explained to Year 11 what Bachillerato entails.

We are developing a reading programme. At present Year 11 read with Year 4 and Year 7 with Year 1. Both the older and younger pupils are very much enjoying this.

We had some interesting assemblies on World Cities Day, End World Slavery Day and Universal Children’s and Human Rights Day which turned the school blue.

Parties are always a highlight. Halloween was full of scary monsters and super-creeps. The White Christmas Party was a festive winter wonderland with a hint of heavy from the School of Rock.
