The third term was full of activities in the Junior Department! We started off the term celebrating Book Day on April 21. Students came to school dressed as their favourite book characters and participated in lots of fun activities: writing alternative endings to well-known stories, playing quiz games on authors and books, making bookmarks, acting out stories of their own and more.
The Juniors went on many excursions this term as well. Year 3 visited the Archaeological Park in Carranque. They saw the Roman ruins and made their own mosaics. Year 4 toured the El Escorial Monastery to learn more on their 16th Century topic. Year 5 went to Faunia to see the ecosystems they had studied in class. And Year 6 went to the Science and Technology Museum, and had a wonderful time with the interactive activities.
At the end of term, the Juniors celebrated Sports Day. There were relay races, tri-ball and kabbadi. The students all embraced the Olympic values, and we saw numerous examples of good sportsmanship. Well done to all!
Finally, the Junior Department held a non-uniform day on June 20th to raise funds for the charitable project Cirugía en Turkana. As always, students generously opened their piggy banks and we raised over 600 Euros. Thank you to everyone!
On behalf of the entire Junior Department, I would like to wish everyone a happy summer holiday.
