Our final assembly of the term celebrated each person’s uniqueness. 8C shared the things they did that made them individuals. Everyone talked about the enjoyment their extra-curricular brought them, whether it was horse-riding, singing, swimming, painting or ballet dancing. We celebrated some special achievements of our pupils. Carmen Vives was first in the PAU (Spanish University entrance exams) out of all the pupils from all the schools that took the exam in the Complutense University. Cristina Calvo was first in the world for Cambridge A level Spanish and Gonzálo López was first in Spain for AS level Spanish. María López became Spanish national champion in team rhythmic gymnastics. Our Year 10 and 11 girls won the inter-schools football competition and our Year 10 and 11 boys won the inter-schools basketball competition.
Charity fundraisers included a non-uniform day for Haiti, 7N organised a freaky Friday when teachers wore uniform and pupils didn’t, 7S had a funky footwear day, 8A had a football-shirt day when Spain played against England and 8M had a Christmas-jumper day. Year 11 organised the annual Christmas party and some year 11 pupils sold calendars for the charity Prodis.
Then there was the mannequin challenge: The whole school silent and absolutely still. How we wish it could be like that more often…
